Lesson Plan: Scoop to Solve
Age Group: 3-5 years
Duration: 45 minutes
Objective: Participants will engage in hands-on learning that promotes numerical skills, spatial awareness, and an understanding of volume and measurement.
Te Whāriki learning outcomes fulfilled:
1) Using gesture and movement to express themselves.
2) Enjoying hearing stories and retelling them and creating them.
3) Playing, imagining, inventing and experimenting.
The New Zealand Curriculum:
1) Count forwards or backwards in 1s, 2s, and 10s from any whole number between 1 and 20.
2) Compare the length, mass (weight), volume, or capacity of objects directly or indirectly.
3) Plan to collect data by making observations or questioning others, and discuss how the data-gathering process might affect people.
